Wrong SKU labels issue

Hey everyone,

I could use some advice! My supplier put the wrong SKU labels on my latest shipment. I asked my freight forwarder to replace them, but instead of removing the old ones, they just stuck the new labels on top.

Does anyone know if this will cause issues when the products arrive at Amazon warehouses? Or will it be okay?

Any insights or experiences you can share would be super helpful! Thanks in advance!

It should be fine if only the correct labels are visible.

FNSKU labels remain the same, when you generate 2nd time or more for the same listing. Don’t worry.

As @EPG_Sourcing rightly says, it depends whether the wrong barcodes are visible so it depends how well the freight forwarder did the simple job you gave them.

If there was 10 units, they probably did a good job. If there is 1000 or 10000, the overlabelling quality and consistency may have suffered and some of the old barcodes may still be visible and scannable.

I used to joke in a previous job having looked at very poor labelling tasks that some people would just throw labels towards the items, hoping they would stick.

Maybe ask your freight forwarder to put your mind at rest? I hope it works out for you.

Yes, having an existing SKU label under a new SKU label can cause problems in Amazon warehouses due to barcode confusion. Contact Amazon Customer Service for guidance on how to properly label your products to avoid inventory issues.

It’s best to remove the old labels completely. Amazon’s scanners might read the old labels, causing inventory errors. Double-check with Amazon’s guidelines, but typically, labels should be clean and clear to avoid any issues.

As a freight forwarder, I have also helped my clients do this. I can tell you that you don’t have to worry, as long as the new label completely covers the barcode on the old 3 label it will be fine.

As others stated, its fine as long as the original label is fully covered.

My distributor covers all UPC codes with FNSKU labels and never had any issue.
