Will Amazon label my FBA products if I forgot to apply FNSKU barcodes?

Hey everyone, I need some advice.

Yesterday, I shipped an FBA shipment via UPS, but I just realized I forgot to apply the FNSKU labels to my products (first time this has happened).

When I created the shipment in Seller Central, I selected “No prep needed,” so I was supposed to label the units myself… but I completely missed that step before dropping off the box at UPS.

Should I:

  • Contact UPS and try to get the shipment back?
  • Contact Amazon and ask them to label the products for me (even though I didn’t select that option during shipment creation)?

Really appreciate any help or insight.

I would try to get your shipment back by contacting UPS.

Reach out to UPS to retrieve the shipment if possible. If not, let me know I have a solution because already faced this situation before.

If you already shipped the box and selected “No prep needed” with no labeling service, Amazon expects the units to arrive labeled with FNSKUs, so there’s a high chance they’ll be marked as unfulfillable upon arrival. At this stage, trying to get the box back from UPS might be the most effective option if it hasn’t been delivered yet, contact UPS immediately to request an intercept or return. If it’s already been delivered or cannot be intercepted, you can contact Amazon and explain the situation; they might be able to apply the labels for a fee or offer a workaround, but there’s no guarantee since you didn’t opt for their labeling service upfront. In either case, monitor the shipment closely and be prepared to create a removal order if the inventory is marked unfulfillable.

Try recalling your shipment from UPS if you can. If not, you can always create a removal order once it gets delivered. Also, don’t delete or cancel the shipment until the box actually reaches your address, just to be safe.

If you can’t get your box back, I think when Amazon receives it, you’ll receive a shipment violation. They may label the items for you, but they will charge you per FNSKU label. Don’t worry, we’ve all made these mistakes before. There’s always a way to fix it somehow.

Thanks for your response. I contacted UPS and they updated the shipping.

They marked it as “Return to Sender.” So even if I try to track the package online, it just shows "Returning to Sender.
