Hello,
I ordered 500 pieces of a product, packed 100 per carton. The supplier is using only one double-wall, five-layer carton, which I know is not sufficient. I asked them to add an outer carton and fill the gap with bubble wrap or similar material, but they only want to use corner protectors.
I know this isn’t enough because I previously ordered very similar products from another company and the packaging on the sides and corners was damaged in many cases. I even offered to pay extra for the additional outer cartons, but they refuse and claim they cannot source cartons from other companies due to Chinese New Year or give similar excuses.
It’s extremely unlikely the shipment will arrive undamaged, and I can’t believe they are willing to pack it so recklessly. I’d really appreciate any advice. For reference, each carton is about 34 × 25 × 44 cm and weighs around 12 kg.
Ideally, I’d want them to place this carton into a larger one, for example 40 × 30 × 50 cm, with corner protectors, even if it increases shipping costs slightly, as the shipment will be split between air and rail transport to the UK.
