As annoying as Amazon gating rules are and how difficult it has become for newer stores to get ungated, imagine how hard it would be to find profitable opportunities if that didn’t exist?
While many of us took a big hit from this mass gating, it could eventually turn into something positive for some. What I mean is that these challenges from Amazon might lead many sellers to give up selling on the platform. However, those who persevere and explore different strategies—such as selling their own brand or small-to-mid-sized brands—stand to benefit and capture the market. I think Amazon keeps giving us signs that we need to keep innovating and adapting in order to survive.
Although Amazon’s gating restrictions can be frustrating, especially for newer sellers trying to get ungated, they serve an important purpose in maintaining product quality and protecting buyers from counterfeit or substandard goods. Without these rules, the platform could become oversaturated, making it even harder to find profitable opportunities due to increased competition and a potential decline in customer trust. Ultimately, the gating system creates barriers, but it also preserves a more secure and viable marketplace for those willing to navigate them.
