What expiration date do you guys put on a product with no expiration date when getting ready to pack and send?

Hello,

I’m sending a FBA shipment (amazon fba arbitrage).

What expiration date should I use when the product doesn’t have one?

Thank you

When sending products to Amazon FBA, if the item doesn’t have an explicit expiration date or if it’s a non-perishable item, you can generally mark it with a date far in the future to ensure its validity within Amazon’s inventory.

For items without a specific expiration date:

  1. Non-perishable Items: For items that don’t expire, you can typically use a date that’s far in the future, like 5 to 10 years from the current date. This serves more as a placeholder than an actual expiration date.

  2. Manufacture Date: If the product has a manufacture date but no clear expiration date, you can use the manufacture date along with an extended timeline (e.g., 10 years ahead) as the “expiration” date.

  3. Consult Amazon Guidelines: Review Amazon’s specific guidelines regarding product dating. They might have recommendations or requirements for products lacking explicit expiration dates.

Accuracy is important, but in the absence of an actual expiration date, setting a date significantly in the future ensures Amazon’s system doesn’t flag your product as expired prematurely. Always aim for transparency and accuracy when labeling your products for Amazon FBA.

I put 3 years. Then it will not expire. No one ever checks these.

What type of product is it? Beauty products are usually 30,60,90 days after opening.
