What cash back apps or extensions are you using in 2025?

A question. I normally use befrugal or Rakuten, but lately a lot of my purchases have been “Ineligible” even though I purchase almost the same thing all the time.

Thank in advance!

Coupert and top cashback.

Many sellers are still using BeFrugal and Rakuten, but others have shifted toward alternatives like TopCashback, Capital One Shopping, and RebatesMe, which sometimes offer better rates or more consistent tracking.

If you’re running into “Ineligible” issues, it could be due to factors like using coupons not listed on the cashback site, shopping in incognito mode, clicking other browser extensions, or going through a non-approved checkout flow.

Some sellers also report better success using cashback directly through mobile apps instead of browser extensions. To improve your chances, disable other extensions during checkout, clear cookies before clicking through, and avoid using multiple cashback platforms simultaneously.

Also, some categories, like gift cards, electronics, or business purchases, are often excluded, so it’s worth reviewing the terms for each store you use.

A lot of cashback extensions have tightened eligibility rules over the last year, especially for repeat purchases or items that fall under “excluded” brand lists. Rakuten, BeFrugal, TopCashback, etc. have all updated their terms for certain categories, so even regular buyers are seeing more “Ineligible” tags.

One option that many online buyers have shifted to in 2025 is using multi-brand or category-specific digital gift cards instead of relying purely on cashback extensions. These cards give upfront savings rather than depending on post-purchase cashback approval.

Platforms like Hubble Money offer digital gift cards with flat discounts across a wide range of brands (including fashion, electronics, lifestyle, food delivery, travel, etc.). The discounts are applied instantly, so there’s no risk of the order being marked “Ineligible” later.

For frequent buyers, especially Amazon or marketplace sellers, this tends to work better because:

  • Discounts are upfront, not pending
  • No browser extension tracking needed
  • Works even when cashback portals exclude the product category
  • Good for repeat purchases where cashback apps often reject the transaction

If cashback extensions keep marking items as ineligible, shifting part of your spend to discounted digital gift cards is usually more reliable.
