VAT question for UK sellers

Hello,

I am selling in the UK and I am not VAT registered yet but Amazon still charges me for VAT.
Can someone tell me if this is ok or no?
Or I should contact my accountant?

Thank you in advance!

You pay vat just like you pay vat when you buy stuff in a shop. You just don’t know about it.

But as Amazon mostly charges from Luxembourg, you can register as vat exempt and not pay vat on fees. You will still pay vat on advertising as that is charged from uk.

Search for vat exemption in seller central. Be aware that there are other tax implications if you register your vat exemption so expert help may be needed. If you only turn over a few thou, then don’t worry about it.

And as always, never take anyone’s tax advice on a forum as gospel.
