Variation images not displaying

What is the maximum variations allowed that still displays images? I had a product with 17 and it displayed the images for each. Added one more and the images disappeared and just have a dropdown to select the variations by name (with no images). Is that correct, 17 is max?

Edit: Something weird going on. If I search for the product and view it, it displays all variation images. However if I locate it in my store, it doesn’t display them. Huh? Any ideas what’s going on?

There is no maximum cap for variation images, you should be able to upload variation images for each variation.

However, the way how your listings with variations are displayed to customers differs based on their device, browser etc. As you can see, it really differs. But the images are definitely displayed for each variation.
