Announcement reposted from Amazon Japan:
On December 26, we’ll update the coupon validation process for sellers in our Japan store. These changes improve the coupon creation experience and provide guidance about how you can address any coupon errors we’ve identified. Coupons will remain disabled until errors are corrected.
Previously, it was required that ASINs have a Was Price in order to run a coupon, regardless of the product’s star rating. The Was Price is determined using the 90-day median price paid by customers. Now, coupons you offer on products that have a four-star rating or above but don’t have a Was Price are exempt from the following error messages and will remain enabled even if they’re flagged by our system:
- Insufficient sales history: To offer a coupon, ASINs must have a Was Price.
- Decrease the Your Price: The Your Price can be a maximum of 30% higher than the Was Price.e
- Increase coupon discount: The Net Price, which is the Your Price plus the coupon discount, needs to beat the Was Price by at least 5%.
We’ve also revised the ASIN star-rating requirements for new coupon submissions:
- Products with no ratings are eligible for coupons without additional criteria.
- Products with one to four ratings must have an average rating of at least one star.
