Updates to automotive and powersports restricted products

Announcement reposted from Amazon Japan:

Effective March 17, 2025, we’ll update the policy in our Japan store for restricted products in automotive and powersports.

We’ll add and revise examples of permitted and prohibited listings, and we’ll provide the National Police Agency’s guidelines on vehicles driven or assisted by an electric motor engine. We’ll also share resourcesfrom the Japan Traffic Management Technology Association on Type Approval Certificate for electric motor-assisted bicycles.

The policy page update will include the following details:

Examples of permitted listings

  • Motor-assisted bicycles (only those with Type Approval Certificate by the National Public Safety Commission).

Examples of prohibited listings

  • Products determined by regulatory authorities to be accessories for illegal modifications.
  • Vehicles driven or assisted by an electric motor or engine, such as electrically-driven kickboards, mopeds, motor bicycles, or motorcycles.
  • Electric motor assisted bicycles without Type Approval Certificate by the National Public Safety Commission.

Really useful update for anyone selling or buying automotive and powersports parts online. It is important to stay informed about these kinds of policy changes especially if you are running a parts business or just looking to buy quality components for your ride. I have been through the process of searching for reliable parts myself and it can be overwhelming trying to figure out what is legitimate and what is not. Recently I was looking for a motorcycle gearbox for sale and spent a good amount of time making sure I was buying from a trustworthy source. I ended up finding exactly what I needed at Talaria Cycles and the experience was smooth from start to finish. Clear product information, solid build quality and no confusing policy issues to deal with. I think this is exactly why it matters where you buy your parts from. Reliable sellers who follow proper guidelines make the whole process so much easier and give you confidence that what you are getting is genuine and safe to use on your bike. Always do your research before purchasing any powersports components online.
