My Amazon Seller account has been fully approved, and I am still waiting for the authentication of my deposit method.
I’ve noticed that around 95% of the products I search for (across multiple categories) are blocked or restricted. I’m wondering what I should do to address this issue or if it’s normal during the initial days.
Could it be that this problem persists because my deposit method is still being authenticated?
Should I check specific categories for more clarity?
It’s normal to have some products blocked or restricted when you first set up an Amazon Seller account. This is because Amazon needs to verify your identity and business information before granting you full access to all product categories. The authentication process for your deposit method may also be contributing to the restrictions, as Amazon wants to ensure that you have a legitimate payment method in place before you start selling.
While it is normal to encounter restricted products, there are still lots of ungated items for newbie sellers you just have to be consistent in product sourcing and widen your choices of category. It really takes time, but you’ll get the hang of it.
My deposit method is already verified, and nothing has changed, so I guess you are correct. Any tips on how to start getting the restrictions lifted? I see some categories are entirely blocked, while others have brands or listings blocked. How do I unlock a category?
Just make sure your metrics are “squeaky clean.” Over time you will be get ungated for a lot of categories and/or products. 99% of the time I am ungated immediately.
How do I unlock a category?
Review the Overview of categories that I posted for you above. It shows which categories are gated, and the requirements to be ungated.
You can always click on the “Apply to sell” button on the Add Products display for some brands you want to sell. You could be surprised.
