I have bought some OA items to send into Amazon but weirdly the title has changed from some cod liver oil tablets to a dog collar. The category has also changed to pets so I am now gated. The photo and description have stayed the same. Has anyone seen this happen before? And what can I do to get it changed back to normal?
Yes, that’s a known catalog glitch that sometimes happens when Amazon’s system merges ASINs incorrectly or when another seller uploads a flat file with mismatched product data, causing the listing’s title and category to switch while keeping the original images and description.
It’s especially common with older ASINs that have shared UPCs or generic GTIN exemptions. The best thing to do is open a case under “Products and Inventory → Product Page Issue → Incorrect information on detail page” and clearly describe what changed, attaching screenshots showing the wrong title and category along with the correct version from Keepa or cached Google results if you have them.
If that doesn’t get fixed within a few days, escalate by replying to the case asking for it to be forwarded to the “Catalog Team for ASIN Correction.”
Avoid sending inventory until it’s resolved, since your products could get stranded or restricted under the new category. If it drags on, you can also create a new, clean ASIN with your correct details and link it to your existing FNSKU through a removal and relabel request once the issue is fixed.
