Sudden BuyBox drop

Hi All

Our buy box has decreased rapidly since we have had an issue with one of our products in our account health.

We are trying to get it sorted but taking ages.

Could this be why sales have dropped and we are getting such a low buy box percentage on shared listings?

Thanks

Be sure to document every thing. That assumes you are NOT at fault in way. If that is a malicious attack from an activist buyer or even a competitor you can go after them for damages.

If you are at fault, correct your problem immediately. If not lawyer up. You don’t have a chance going after amazon, you can go after the buyer for damages due to their actions that have the intent to harm you and as a result have cause irreparable damage to your company.

No It may not be that the sale of the product has decreased. Account health has nothing to do with sales.

The BuyBox algorithm depends on multiple factors, which Amazon doesn’t reveal and there is no guarantee you will have the BuyBox on any listing, even if you were the one who created it and there are no other sellers competing with you.

Are you the only seller on your listings or do you have any competitors?

Sudden increases or decreases of price can cause the loss of BuyBox, just like your metrics exceeding the minimum performance targets or the product’s Handling Time being updated to be longer.

In your case, it most likely happened due to the issues with metrics you mentioned.

Account health has a whole lot to do with sales when you have competition. Whoever’s seller metrics are better gets the bigger piece of the buy box price. Also you will be throttled by Amazon when you are facing IP complaints, a-z claims, inauthenticity claims, etc. I know this to be true from first hand experience. Even when certain issues are happening and Amazon says it has no impact on your account health, that’s a lie. It may not affect the number, but it absolutely affects your sales.

I have had this happen whenever I get a ding on my account health, even when Amazon says it has no effect on your account. I suggest clearing anything you have up immediately and it should start correcting itself. Any listings that you compete on though, you’ll have to fight your way back into your previous buy box position. I hope this isn’t an A-Z claim because that was the worst damn thing that ever happened to us. It was a crippling, VERY unfair blow we had to bounce back from.

It sounds likely! When metrics are damaged, it can affect buybox percentages and in turn sales. It’s a domino effect.

Exactly!! It can be a nightmare. We’re almost ready to launch our account maintenance department. I’m super excited, and we’re possibly going to have a beta test group going first. Can’t wait!!

Yeah, the BuyBox goes to the seller with the best stats, how well they’re doing, and their return rate ratio. That’s pretty common knowledge already.

Feel free to invite me!
