We are a registered brand on Amazon and should be submitting the store for review soon.
But we can’t decide if to send 90% of our stock to Amazon for FBA instead of trying to fulfill ourselves first… What is the most common course of action… We sell smallish household goods.
Would it be best to send everything to Amazon first??
I can’t decide… Purely because as with all things Amazon they are difficult… I don’t know enough of the system to make a decision to work out what the best course of action would be…?
If you are able to, I strongly suggest you start with FBM for at least 6 months. You will learn about the ins and outs of selling on Amazon and not risk having your stock impounded by Amazon or your account deactivated or sending too much and bleeding funds on storage charges, etc etc.
Also think about SFP which may suit you.
If this is your own brand, then you could do what I do. I always send 40 units to FBA. Then, 30 units goes to Amazon Vine to get reviews. The 10 remaining units stay to see if the product sells. I also use the FBA inventory to fulfill MCF orders on other platforms.
Yes my own brand… I was thinking this… 50% to FBA and 50% keep with us… Monitor the stock and fill FBA when needed… We have a 2 month stock refil time (not the fastest) but we could maybe air freight some over in a hurry and take a hit if things get low in Amazon.
One thing I can’t seem to work out is the possible costs involved… In storage fees and all of the other fees, for our products…? Is there an online calculator anywhere?
I have read mixed reviews about doing this. Lack of sales with FBM, as most people want prime, but pros include not mismanaging inventory and sucking up huge fees oe out of stocks… hard one to call.
