Should I stay away from this product or will I still be able to compete with Amazon for buy box even if my price is lower than theirs?

I have a branded product that I want to sell but Amazon is one of the sellers. I believe that I can lower my price below their price.

You could test it by buying just a few units but in reality, Amazon’s buying power is such that they will be able to beat your price, as soon as they see that someone else is on the listing.

In any case, the buy box rotates so you might get a few sales, even if Amazon have a lower price.

But don’t be a busy fool.

Amazon usually controls the Buy Box, even if your price is lower. Check Keepa to see if they share it. If not, it’s risky. Have you checked Buy Box history?

Check Amazon’s stock pattern using Keepa to see if Amazon ever goes out of stock. If they do, you can sell at a higher price when they run out.

Test the market—if you have a small quantity, you can see how Amazon reacts.

Look for other products. Competing directly with Amazon can be tough, so if possible, find alternative profitable products where Amazon isn’t a seller.

I only have Seller Amp, do not have Keepa…

If Amazon is on the listing, it can be challenging to compete for the Buy Box, even if your price is lower. Amazon often prioritizes itself for the Buy Box due to factors like faster shipping, stock availability, and overall seller performance. However, in some cases, if Amazon has limited stock, experiences delays, or if your offer includes a significant price difference with competitive fulfillment (such as FBA), you might get a share of the Buy Box. It’s important to monitor the listing’s history, check how often Amazon goes out of stock, and test with a small quantity before committing heavily.
