Hello Experts,
I am a beginner and new to Amazon, and I want to start private label FBA in Canada. I have product suppliers in India and would like to send FBA shipments to the USA.
If I understand correctly, the shipment needs to be delivered duty paid from end to end, is that correct?
What information does Amazon provide to ensure smooth shipping?
Does anyone know a good freight forwarder in India who can help in this scenario?
I appreciate your help and guidance.
Shipping from India to Amazon USA can work very well, but the best method really depends on your shipment size, budget, and how quickly you need inventory to arrive. For smaller test orders, most sellers use air shipping or DDP air shipping through a freight forwarder because it is much faster, simpler, and avoids many customs complications. Sea shipping is usually the cheapest per unit, but for small quantities the fixed port, customs, and handling costs can make it less economical than people expect. Many experienced sellers recommend starting with a smaller air shipment first so you can test the product, inspect Amazon receiving, and learn the process before committing to larger sea freight orders.
One of the biggest pieces of advice is to work with a freight forwarder that already has experience with Amazon FBA shipments, because Amazon has strict carton labeling, FNSKU, pallet, and appointment requirements that normal exporters sometimes do not understand. DDP shipping is especially popular for beginners because the forwarder handles customs clearance, duties, and final delivery to Amazon, which reduces operational stress significantly. You should also make sure your commercial invoice, packing list, HS codes, and product compliance documents are completely correct before shipping, because customs issues are one of the most common causes of delays.
A good strategy for new sellers is usually air shipping for the first small batch, then transitioning to sea freight later once sales are proven and inventory planning becomes more predictable. This helps reduce risk while allowing you to learn the FBA shipping workflow gradually rather than dealing with large expensive shipments immediately.
