I recently launched my product on Amazon and planned to sell it for $19.99. To gain traction, I wanted to start a sale at $14.99, but my Buy Box price is stuck at $14.99, and I can’t increase it to $19.99 to set up the discount.
I’m the only seller on the listing, but I’m unable to raise the price. Has anyone faced this issue before? Any advice on how to fix it?
Yeah, Amazon’s algorithm can be tricky. If you dropped the price too low, it might’ve set a price floor. Try raising it slowly—like $1 per day. Also, check your pricing rules, min/max settings, and suppressed Buy Box issues. Worst case, delete and relist the product. Amazon support might help too.
I was surprised when this happened. I did some digging and found out that Amazon’s pricing algorithm sometimes suppresses higher price changes if it thinks the increase is too drastic. Some sellers I know worked around it by gradually increasing their price over time instead of jumping straight to $19.99.
This issue is likely due to Amazon’s pricing algorithm detecting your previous lower price and setting a price limit based on that. When you first sell an item at a discounted rate, Amazon’s system may view that as the “standard” price and restrict sudden increases to prevent price gouging. Since you’re the only seller, the best way to fix this is to gradually raise the price in small increments over several days instead of making a big jump from $14.99 to $19.99.
Check if you have set a maximum price for this ASIN.
When the List Price is set at $14.99, then you cannot show a discount from $19.99. If you already processed sales under the discounted price, then Amazon considers it to be the actual product price and if you want to offer a discount, it has to be made from the $14.99 price. If you would like to increase the price, do it slowly over a longer period of time.
