Section 3 verification issue

I was trying to upgrade my US Amazon seller account from my personal details to a company’s details but I confronted a roadblock which is not being able to change the country of business location!

While trying to solve the problem and contacting Seller Support, I was hit by Section 3 and now I will have to go through the identity verification interview.

What worries me a little bit is this: in their email, Amazon requests to prepare ‘Invoices or receipts for the ASINs’, but they do not specify which ASIN exactly. Currently I have no product listed in my inventory, so I don’t know which documentation to prepare. Also when I stared out this journey I made some beginner mistakes by not paying much attention to documentation.

1- Should I upload the documents here for the ‘Supply chain documents’? (please see attached screenshot).

2- If yes, then can I upload the most recent ASIN that was listed on my inventory?

3- What documents exactly I should upload for supply chain?

4- For the interview, is it just an identity verification interview or Amazon may ask about documentation for previously listed ASINs in my account?

5- Any additional advice or tips before taking this verification would be helpful.

Do you list any products recently?

If you have applied for Brand ungating or stuff, you may need to provide proofs for them. If there is not listing on your account, then you can explain it to Amazon and say that it’s not applicable in your case.

I have nothing listed on my Amazon account.

If I did not submit any documents right now, will they ask me about previously listed ASINs during the video interview?

They might ask to submit invoices for any ASINs listed on the account within the last 365 days. They can also specify the ASINs for which they require documents upon asking.

The problem is that I do not have proper documentation for the majority of previously listed ASINs so I am afraid that they ask about one of the those.

Can I upload the most recent listed ASIN documents in order to avoid them asking about random ASIN?

And is it guaranteed that Amazon will never ask about ASINs listed more than 365 days ago? I mean is there a policy mentioning this somewhere?

When I had Section 3, they didn’t mention any ASINs in the email, so I didn’t prepare any. But during the video call, she asked me for a specific ASIN on the spot. I always keep my invoices, so I quickly found it and showed it to her. Have you ever listed any ASINs before? If yes, they might be referring to those. If you haven’t sold anything yet, just say that on the call. And if you did create a listing, you can explain that you haven’t purchased the stock yet but just added the listing.

You’re in a sensitive stage with the Section 3 review and upcoming identity verification, so it’s important to be clear, organized, and proactive. First, yes, you can upload documents under the “Supply chain documents” section if that’s what the portal is prompting. Even though they haven’t named specific ASINs, Amazon usually wants documentation for the most recent or highest-risk ASINs you listed, especially if they were flagged by automated systems. If you have invoices or receipts from a verified supplier (not retail stores) for any products you listed, start with the most recent one, just make sure the invoice shows the supplier’s full contact details, your name or business name, dates, product details, and quantities.

For question 3, the documents Amazon expects include supplier invoices, contracts, or purchase orders from authorized distributors or brands. Avoid receipts from retailers like Walmart, Costco, or eBay, as they usually get rejected. If you don’t have proper invoices, it’s better to be transparent in the explanation section and clarify your early mistakes while also outlining the steps you’re now taking to build a compliant business.

For the interview, while it’s mainly identity verification (passport or government ID and facial match), they may also ask general questions about your supply chain and business model, especially if you’ve had prior ASIN activity. It’s not guaranteed they’ll go deep into documentation during the call, but you should be ready to explain what you sold, where you sourced it, and show any paperwork if requested.

Additional tips: be calm, confident, and clear in your answers. Have all your documents organized and ready to screen share or present if asked. Dress professionally, keep good lighting, and avoid background noise. This is your opportunity to show you’re serious and transparent, so make a good impression and be honest about past missteps. If you’re unsure or don’t feel ready, it’s okay to delay and reschedule the interview until your documents are in order.

First of all, why are you not collecting proper documentation? And no, I wouldn’t just submit a random invoice they haven’t asked for. If you have Account Health support, contact them or open a case to ask which ASIN they’re referring to. Also, is this a Section 3 email? What does it say before that? It might just be to verify your identity.

A beginner mistake! When I started out on this journey, I wasn’t aware of the importance of documentation. I didn’t collect invoices, didn’t store proofs of delivery, and most importantly, I used different cards and payment methods, some of which weren’t even under my name, but under the names of some family members.

Should I contact Seller Support or Account Health to ask which ASIN they may want to verify?

The email mentions “Section,” but it doesn’t seem to be triggered by a violation, it looks more like a seller identity verification. Here’s what the email says at the beginning:

It looks like the same email many others got. These might be random, or something could have triggered it, no one really knows.

Call Account Health and find out which ASIN they’re referring to so you can be prepared.

I wouldn’t mention anything about not having invoices or using other people’s cards, as they’ll make a note of it. You might get lucky and they’ll just ask for a recent purchase.

I did verify the business address using the postcard code, but I wasn’t able to update the legal entity information. So, I strongly suspect this is what triggered the verification.

As @ronyal mentioned in his comment, Amazon may request documents for any ASIN listed within the last 365 days. So they will never ask about ASINs listed more than 365 days ago? If that’s the case, it’s good news, because nearly all the ASINs with documentation issues were listed over a year ago.
