Same product with different UPC

I have found a product with a distributor which has a UPC different from the UPC of the listing on Amazon, although the product is matching, should I list that product? Please help uf anyone has experience of such case.

A different barcode means you should make a new listing. There is likely to be reason why there is a different barcode and if you don’t, you are taking a risk.

If the product is identical but has a different UPC from the one on the existing Amazon listing, you should be cautious. Amazon requires that the UPC on the product matches the listing to ensure authenticity and prevent listing manipulation. If you list it under the existing ASIN with a different UPC, you risk potential policy violations, suppression of your listing, or account issues if a customer or Amazon flags the mismatch. A safer approach is to check with the distributor if the UPC variation is authorized for the same ASIN or consider creating a new listing if the product has a legitimate different UPC.

In most cases, when you see a listing with the incorrect barcode, someone created it at some point either because they didn’t bother to locate the correct barcode or because they couldn’t join the correct listing for some reason.

If you are able to locate the correct listing using the matching barcode, then join that listing.

However, these days, it is no longer possible to create listings on Amazon belonging to other branded products apart from yours. So, if you attempt to create a listing using the correct barcode, it won’t be possible.

If the UPC on your product differs from the one on the existing Amazon listing, you should be cautious. Amazon requires an exact match, and listing under a different UPC could lead to issues like listing suppression or account suspension. Consider checking with the distributor or creating a new listing. Using an Amazon repricer can help you stay competitive once your listing is set up correctly.
