I am currently selling in the UK but am interested in opening an account in the US. What would be the suggested steps?
Do I need to create an LLC in the US and then create a new Amazon seller account? If I am not a US resident, would I be considered not engaged in trade (ETBUS) and therefore not liable for US taxes?
Also, is there a possibility that the new US account could be linked to my UK account and cause issues, as my personal documents will be the same?
The first option is to sell in the US by enabling the global selling option from your UK account, but in this case, you will have to pay a $50 monthly fee instead of $39.99.
The second option is to create a new Seller Central account for the US marketplace with different credentials. However, in both cases, you will need an LLC to sell in the US.
If you want to start wholesale in the US, you need to create an LLC and an Amazon seller account. These steps are quite simple. You will need to purchase a virtual US address through an agent.
No need to create a new account. You can attach the LLC to your UK account. You just need to create the LLC with the same details. I have a UK account and created an LLC in Florida and attached it to the same account. Then you can sell in both markets.
An LLC is required for a wholesale business model in the US. If you start an LLC, you may register a new seller account for it. You will not be linked to your previous account if you follow the correct procedure during the process. Feel free to contact me for further assistance. I offer professional consultancy and services for LLC formation and Amazon Seller Central registration.
