Responsibility for shipment under DDP terms

So I’m doing ddp with my alibaba supplier and she says if any defect caused by production she will replace. But if caused by unproper handling or unloading or other force break, that they cannot replace it. This doesnt sit right with me.

It was my understanding with ddp the seller takes all responsibility until I receive the product.

I haven’t paid in full yet. Please advise what I should do. I looked up noc but didn’t find anything

Unless you are a huge customer nothing can be done. None of those agreements hold anyplace outside of China. They know that, at this point they tell you what ever you want to hear so they can get the sale and your money.

If you have been buying from them for the last 10 as stated in your other post I would not worry about it.
Buy less more often is the only way to go. If you are selling it on the cheap with microscopic level profit you will not last long on amazon. You will get ripped off on a daily basis, your “source” in China will offer it to others and will reference your listing to prospective amazon sellers. Then you are done.

If you are selling on your own site you are better off, get greedy by selling on amazon and you will be done once others see your item selling in volume.

It should be the supplier’s responsibility as you are dealing in DDP. You should have already dealt with her in this regard before payment And should have asked for NOC to keep both parties safe.

DDP means deliver duty paid, it doesn’t matter to package borken thing during transit, if brokent during in transit, the shipping forwarder should take the responsibility.

Well if it’s her forwarder isnt that between them?

I ordered an inspection. I was hoping to skip this step which is dumb of me, but you convinced me. Now I’m thinking this is more important than insurance.

I suggest you always conduct inspection before you pay the balance and ship out the goods. And let the freight forwarder to handle shipping. Otherwise, it’s hard to tell who’s at fault if it’s broken.

You can buy a separate transport insurance for your goods.

Even insurance is flaky when it comes down to paying out of a claim.

When things start to smell and you can see the potential of all involved to point fingers at each other just be careful. Most importantly be sure you have enough profit to cover the loss. So many will make promises to you and when it comes time to payout it then becomes excuse after excuse, pointing out what you or the other party did wrong, thus voiding the claim.
