Question for those who are selling on ETSY

I had hired a service to manage my Etsy account. They have been selling digital and physical items on a profit-split basis, and I have been earning a decent passive income from it.

I’m considering starting another account with them to explore different categories, as the initial cost for the new account is minimal.

Since I cannot create a new account under my own details, is it acceptable to use my wife’s or a friend’s details to set one up?

I’m uncertain about how strict Etsy’s policy is regarding multiple accounts, especially in comparison to Amazon.

I’ve run two Etsy shops before, just use different emails, cards, and IPs for each. Etsy’s okay with multiple accounts as long as they’re run separately. Using your wife’s info works, just don’t overlap logins or products. Keep things clean and you’re good!

Of course, you can use your friend’s or wife’s details, just ensure not to sell the same item.

Is there a way for you to add shop managers with specific permissions? I have an Etsy shop with digital products and the only reason I haven’t hired a VA is because I was told I’d have to give my login info. That would give them access to everything when I would ideally only want someone to be able to add new listings and respond to customer messages.

Etsy’s policy does allow sellers to operate multiple shops, but they require full transparency—each account must be registered with accurate personal and business information, and you must disclose the existence of your other shop(s) in your public profile. Using someone else’s name, like your wife’s or a friend’s, to create an account that you’ll operate can technically violate Etsy’s Terms of Use if you’re not being transparent about who is managing the shop, especially if the new account is essentially an extension of your first. Unlike Amazon, Etsy is less aggressive about enforcing multiple account restrictions unless there’s a connection to policy violations, chargebacks, or IP issues, but there is still a risk if they believe you’re bypassing their policies. If the service you hired is managing everything and using multiple accounts across clients, you should also ensure they aren’t overlapping listings or using risky tactics that could link your accounts. If you want to be fully compliant, consider contacting Etsy support, explain that you want to open a second shop for different product categories, and ask what they require to remain within policy.
