I have seen people in the US talk about optimised shipping to save on placement fees and to get it available faster. Does anyone know if this something that is available in the UK? Thanks

No, in the UK, there isn’t a feature exactly like the US “optimized shipment splits” that lets you control FBA warehouse placement to reduce placement fees, at least not yet. Amazon UK still automatically decides which fulfillment centers to send your stock to, and sellers don’t currently pay separate placement service fees like those recently introduced in the US.
However, some UK sellers work around this by using Amazon’s Inventory Placement Service via a 3PL or by consolidating shipments at prep centers located near major FBA hubs such as BHX, LTN, or MAN to reduce transport costs and improve receiving times.
If you’re seeing US discussions about optimized splits, those relate to the new North America fees where sellers can pay extra to have inventory spread efficiently or sent to one destination.
The UK hasn’t rolled that out, so for now your best bet is optimizing carton weights, using partnered carriers, and shipping from a central prep location to help Amazon distribute faster once your goods are checked in.
I am afraid this is only possible on the US Amazon site.
Amazon always launches these extra BETA services in the US and subsequently, they expand elsewhere.
