Not getting the BuyBox on my FBM offer

Hello everyone.

I have been on amz for some time now. Up until now I have only done fba. I just created my first listing for fbm. The product is live now but has no buy box and I, as the only seller, am not eligible as the featured offer.

Since I can not get the buy box I am unable to run an ad campaign. I believe I am not eligible for the buy box because I have no fbm history and my shipping metrics show zero. It seems I am stuck in a catch 22 scenario. I can not sell anything until I sell something. I am thinking of doing a few fbm items on unrelated existing listings just to get the metrics to get me going.

Has anyone been in this situation before? Also the shipping time is set to 5 days anyone doing fbm know if this is a deal breaker for the box?

Thanks in advance.

You don’t understand how big tech operates. Opacity of their platform allows them to bully you into using FBA.

Yep, we just move on then use the kryptonite on them, they play dirty with my company I return it.

Using the kryptonite is exploiting the fact that buyers typically buy more than one item. As an online marketplace seller you typically only get 1 item per order.

Fact is, typically it is more than one item per buyer order. If the buyer finds your product on another site for less money they will more than likely buy other stuff from that site. When they shop our website the average order is 3.5 items…

That is 3.5 less items than what they will buy on ebay and amazon, hence the Kryptonite, a/k/a a nightmare for both online marketplaces…

I figure you’re offering free returns etc to stay competitive. I think Amazon buyers care more about having a generous return and refund policy than just the price.

It probably has nothing to do with your eligibility to get the Buy Box, and more due to the fact that Amazon thinks your price is too high.

Try lowering your price…

The BuyBox position depends on seller’s overall price + shipping, fulfillment method, handling time, Premium delivery options and metrics.

Handling time over 5-6 days will cause you to lose the BuyBox, even if you are the only seller.

Also, if you are a newly registered seller, you will need to wait until at least 90 days past registration and process at least 1 order to be BuyBox eligible.

Thank you! I didn’t know that!
