hoping someone with experience in this can guide me.
In 2022, I registered a UK limited company and used its registered office address to open an Amazon Seller Central (UK) account.
I never really started selling — left it inactive shortly after setup.
Now in 2026, checking the account, it’s deactivated and Amazon is asking for identity/business verification.
Meanwhile, I checked Companies House and found the company has since been dissolved, and the virtual/registered address is no longer active.
So Amazon’s records (company + address) no longer match reality.
My questions:
Is it possible to reinstate this account, and if so, do I need to restore the dissolved company first (administrative restoration) before Amazon will accept new documents?
Or is it smarter to close this account and open a new one under a current valid entity?
Has anyone dealt with Amazon flagging “related accounts” after closing an old one and opening fresh?
Any guidance from people who’ve handled UK entity + Amazon account issues would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!
If the company is dissolved, I wouldn’t simply close the old account and create a new one. Amazon can still retain the old account information and potentially link a new account to it.
The safest approach is to resolve the old account first. If you want to continue using that Amazon account, restoring the UK company may be necessary so your business information can be valid and verifiable again. If you decide to use a new entity, make sure you follow Amazon’s multiple-account policy and don’t use it to bypass the old deactivation.

On the restoration question specifically: Amazon’s verification team checks Companies House (or the equivalent registry) live when they review documents, so a dissolved company almost always fails automatically, no matter how good the rest of your submission is. Administrative restoration through Companies House (form RT01, if it was struck off for non-filing) usually takes a few weeks and costs around £100 in filing fees plus any late accounts you owe. Once the company shows as active again on the register, the name, number and registered address on your documents will match what Amazon’s system sees, and that mismatch is usually the actual blocker, not the identity/business verification itself.
Closing and reopening isn’t a shortcut here — dormant or not, the account is still tied to your name and old business details, and Amazon’s related-account matching runs on identity data (name, address, bank details, device fingerprints), not just company number. A fresh account under a new entity but the same person tends to get caught by that check within days, and then you’re dealing with two deactivations instead of one.
Given it was never really an active selling account, it might also be worth a quick call to Seller Support to ask directly whether they’d rather see it closed cleanly (since there’s no inventory/customer history at stake) versus restored — sometimes for a dormant account they’ll tell you that up front and save you the £100.
Has anyone here actually gone through the RT01 restoration route specifically to satisfy Amazon’s KYC, rather than for a normal business reason? Curious how long Amazon took to re-verify once the company was active again.
