Mediation in uk help needed

Hi everyone, I really need help from other UK Amazon sellers — especially sole traders.

My Amazon account was deactivated due to a listing issue, and I applied for mediation on 8 September 2025.

I submitted all required documents to prove my UK business registration as a sole trader, including:

VAT Certificate

SA302 (HMRC tax document confirming self-employment registration)

Bank statement

Mobile bill

Passport

However, after two months of Amazon telling me my mediation request was still “under review,” I have now been told that I do not meet the mediation eligibility criteria because my documents “do not go beyond VAT registration,” even though the SA302 is proof of business registration for sole traders.

I still have not received any formal reply from the Mediation Team for the 8 September submission.

❓ My questions for other UK sellers:

  1. Are there any UK sole traders here who successfully entered mediation with Amazon?

  2. What documents did you submit to prove business registration?

  3. Did Amazon accept your SA302 or HMRC tax documents?

  4. Did you receive a confirmation email after submitting mediation?

Any advice or shared experiences would help me a lot.

Thank you!

Hello @faz,

thank you for joining the forum. Why mediation? You could take a legal action in Luxembourg.

Since you created this thread some time ago, do you have any update?

I can help you and give you some directions regarding mediation.

Yes, it’s actually quite normal for the UK mediation service to ask for proof of business registration, especially for sole traders, because Amazon’s mediation process is technically between two legal entities and they need to verify that you are a valid trading party before they can proceed.

Since sole traders don’t have incorporation documents like a limited company, you can prove your business status by sending your UTR number, a recent HMRC self-assessment confirmation, business bank statements showing trading activity under your name, or a recent tax return that lists your trading name.

It’s also fine to include invoices or Amazon payout records showing consistent sales under your name. If you’ve already submitted these, and it’s been six weeks with no update, you should send a polite follow-up email to the CEDR mediation team referencing your case number and asking for confirmation that your verification documents were received and your case remains under review.

Unfortunately, once the case enters mediation, Amazon’s Account Health team can’t intervene, but you can also email [email protected] to explain the delay and request that they flag your case internally for response. Keep all correspondence professional and concise, because mediation cases are slow, but clear communication and proper documentation usually get them moving again.

You’re very welcome, and it sounds like you’ve already done the right thing by providing solid proof of your identity and business activity, especially since sole traders don’t have incorporation papers.

If the mediation team’s email didn’t include a case ID, don’t worry — that happens sometimes when the verification step hasn’t been completed in their system yet. What you can do now is send a follow-up email directly to the CEDR mediation team (replying to the same thread) politely confirming that you’ve sent all the requested documents and asking for acknowledgment that your verification materials were received and attached to your file.

Keep your message short and professional, just listing what you sent (passport, VAT certificate, SA302, etc.) and asking for confirmation that the case is still under review. If you don’t hear back within a few days, you can also call Amazon’s Account Health team to request that they escalate a message to the CEDR liaison confirming your ongoing mediation case. It’s often just a paperwork delay, and once your documents are verified, they’ll reopen the mediation process, so staying patient but persistent is the best approach right now.

That message from the Account Health team confirms that your mediation appeal is still in active review, which means your case has been escalated beyond the regular appeals department and is now being handled by Amazon’s internal enforcement team — a slower but more serious level of review.

This stage often takes several weeks, sometimes longer if additional verification or cross-checking is required, and the Account Health agents unfortunately can’t see internal notes or influence the outcome while it’s under review.

What you can do now is send a short, polite follow-up email to the mediation team (replying to your last mediation correspondence) restating that you’ve provided all supporting documents and would appreciate confirmation that your case remains open and active.

Avoid resubmitting full appeals or reopening cases through Seller Central, since that can reset the review queue. You might also send a copy of your communication and call summary to [email protected] to flag your case for oversight, as executive relations sometimes prompt faster action when mediation stalls.

It’s good that the Account Health agent confirmed your appeal wasn’t closed or rejected, so staying patient and maintaining steady, polite follow-ups every 10–14 days is your best course until you get the formal decision email.

@ecomwithumair hi this monday it will.be 8 week at the moment no reply from mediation and seller support saying that your meditation is actively working on since 15th October what can i do and what the most i shojld wait

Give it more time, mediation and in general any form of out of court process is usually slow.

There is nothing pushing Amazon to respond faster as they are under no pressure.

Hi @ecomwithumair is mediation allow for sole trader as hewlth team when i spoke to said that mediation sole trader are not allow mediation can you cnofirm this is correct

@usmanyousaf112 thank you for reply i had another replt from amazon support this is the email i got last
