Looking for shipping recommendations for furniture

Hello everyone,

in our e-commerce business that sells furniture, we have recently noticed serious damage and return problems in packages shipped with DHL. Are there any companies in the same industry that have suggestions for improvement on this topic? I’d appreciate it if you could share your ideas. Also, any other shipping recommendations?

Thanks in advance and kind regards

I am assuming your ecomm business is centric to amazon. When your stuff has a high probability of getting damaged and you sell it on amazon you are not going to be around very long. Costs, returns and buyer complaints will get you shut down.

Unless you are the actual manufacture that can absorb the loss you are doomed. The manufacture is basically out materials and shipping, you are out 3 times more money than the manufacture so keep that in mind. Plus a manufacture selling direct does not have the activist buyers like amazon caters too so that helps out.

We are the manufacturer, and I was wondering which carrier or service others use to transport heavy and expensive furniture that is prone to damage. I was considering arranging my own delivery, but it’s my understanding that I need to provide tracking and signature proof of delivery from one of Amazon’s approved carriers. And this is the problem.

Yes, you have an problem that cannot be solved in regards to that. Only option is to use amazon’s approved carriers or you will get burned and almost every item you sell.

Not sure how large your products are, all the carriers have problems. It is inherent with the heavy/large/hard to pack products. It comes down to who has insurance that will actually pay the claim for the replacement cost of the item.

EVERY one of the carriers will do what ever they can to avoid paying out a claim and will always point the finger at you for inadequate packing. UPS does have clearly defined standards of how much fill around the item and box certification. By the time you comply, I am assuming products like press board Ikea furniture you will have more in the packing costs than the product cost.

All you can do is test and evaluate, no clear solution for this.
