Legal entity in Seller Central

Good Morning everyone

I am reaching out to ask how did you guys change your personal name as legal entity to your LLC name as a legal entity in seller central. I have single member LLC and according to the instructions in seller central I am unable to update the seller central account with my LLC being the legal entity.

My concern is if I buy products for sourcing under my LLC name and then get invoices under my LLC name, I will be running into delays every time I submit anything for verification because Amazon wants EXACT NAME MATCHING with the legal entity in Amazon.

Highly appreciate your help, thanks!

To change the legal entity name in Amazon Seller Central to an LLC name, you need to prepare documents such as proof of company registration, contact seller support to submit a name change application, and ensure that the invoice name is consistent.

The correct way to do it is through the tax interview, not the general account info section. Go to Settings → Account Info → Tax Information and start a new W-9 tax interview, choose “Business,” and enter your LLC name exactly as it appears on your Articles of Organization and EIN letter. After you submit the new W-9, Amazon will usually trigger a verification request asking for your LLC documents, and once those are approved, your legal entity automatically updates to the LLC.

If the tax interview refuses to switch you from Individual to Business (which happens a lot), you’ll need to open a case under “Legal entity or tax information – Other issue” and ask for a manual legal entity change by the verification team. Tell them that the automated system isn’t allowing the update and you need the legal entity changed from your personal name to your single-member LLC. They’ll then request the LLC formation documents, EIN assignment letter, and business bank statement, and after reviewing them, they’ll apply the change manually on the backend.

Once the change is made, you can safely submit invoices under your LLC name and everything will match Amazon’s records, so future verifications won’t get delayed.
