I just sent my first shipment to Amazon, and it has been a complete nightmare. Out of the 280 units I sent in, Amazon is saying that 200 units were the wrong product. Of the remaining 80 units, they said that 40 were damaged and unsellable. Now, out of the remaining 40 units, none of them are showing as available inventory, they are all listed as “On Hand.”
I have managed to sell 14 units, but all of those orders are showing as “Payment Verification.”
I’ve been doing FBM for over two years now. Should I just go back to selling that way?
Wait until the shipment is fully closed first. A lot of inventory gets transferred between FCs and may show as “On Hand” before becoming available. After the shipment closes, reconcile the quantities and file an Inbound Shipment Discrepancy/Reimbursement case for any units that are still missing or damaged. Don’t give up on FBA yet, this kind of issue is unfortunately common.
Also, since you’ve been successfully doing FBM, I would recommend keeping your fragile products as FBM. No matter how well Amazon handles inventory, fragile items can easily get damaged if they’re not packaged extremely well, and broken products can lead to negative reviews and returns. You can always use FBA for more durable items and keep delicate products on FBM.
