Is there any point in getting a dedicated business email address?

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well and enjoying the last few weeks of summer. I’m a relatively new seller, with about 5 months of experience. Right now, I’m focused on OA and wholesale. However, as I continue to learn more about the Amazon e-commerce landscape, I’m realizing that the wholesalers I’m currently working with don’t offer competitive prices for selling on Amazon, they’re fairly easy to find and sign up with.

I’m interested in moving towards working with more professional wholesalers, distributors, and possibly even directly with brands. Given this, do you think it’s time for me to set up a website for my Ltd company and get a professional email address? Would that make me appear more legitimate when approaching these companies and help in opening accounts, or is it not necessary?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

An email address which doesn’t end in @gmail, @hotmail or @free-email etc definitely looks better to potential suppliers and a website make you more legitimate.

It’s not essential to have a website unless a wholesaler specifically asks for one. I’ve dealt with many wholesalers, both large and small, and I’ve never needed to show a website. Occasionally, they may ask where you sell, and in that case, having a website might be useful. However, I wouldn’t stress about it at this stage. Focus on reaching out to wholesalers and opening trade accounts. If you ever encounter a wholesaler who requires a website, you can create one then. For now, just keep opening trade accounts, and you’ll be fine.

I think it’s great to see you taking proactive steps in your Amazon selling journey! Having a professional website and email can definitely enhance your credibility when reaching out to wholesalers and distributors. It shows that you’re serious about your business and can help establish trust. While it may not be absolutely necessary, it can certainly give you an edge and open more doors for you. Consider it an investment in your brand.
Wishing you all the best as you navigate this exciting path! If you have any more questions or need further advice, feel free to ask!

If you have just one brand, then it’s definitely worth it to invest into a dedicated e-mail address.

Many services or payments providers are only accepting registrations from companies that have their own e-mail address. It will make you look a lot more professional.

Getting contacted by a business with a gmail address indicates lack of professionality.

Having a professional website and email can boost your credibility with wholesalers and distributors, though it’s not always required. It can make you look more established and serious about your business.

Are there specific wholesalers or brands you’re targeting? This might help determine if you need these tools right now.
