Is selling books a good profit?

If so what’s an recommendation on how to start ? Sorry I have millions of questions and I have been learning so much from various sources .

I really appreciate you all

Selling books can be profitable, but it depends on various factors such as the type of books, their condition, the demand for them, and the competition in the market. Some types of books, such as textbooks or rare books, can have higher profit margins than others.

To start, you can consider sourcing books from local thrift stores, garage sales, or online platforms like BookFinder or AbeBooks.

List your books with accurate descriptions, competitive prices, and high-quality images. Promote your listings through social media and engage with potential buyers.

How to start’ is a vast question. You need to understand all steps. As I’m a consultant I can help you but complete course videos are available on YouTube, Udemy etc…

Go to places like Goodwill and other charity houses. I will sometimes find gems that their appraisers have overlooked. I have gotten books there for $2 that I was able to sell for $40. It takes patience to find yhe diamond in the rough. Also, frequent used bookstores, if you have any in your area, get to know the owners and let them know what you’re trying to do, sell books on Amazon. That was one of my key sources when I was just starting out 20 years ago. One used bookseller actually gave me boxes upon boxes of books that he was unable to sell, mostly because he wasn’t that familiar with the subject matter, and I was. Used book dealers, as a rule, really do want the local competition to succeed.

Depends on what kinds of books you have. My daughter wanted to sell some of her university textbooks, and they all sold quickly and for a good price. However, the most popular titles have hundreds of sellers listing them, starting at $0.01. So unless you have rare or hard-to-find books, it’s unlikely you will be successful.

I agree with @O.L.D.Books. In thrift stores, charity shops, you can find hidden gems. These are the books that sell well.

Newest releases or popular books from traditional bookstores that are sourced new have hundreds of sellers on their listings, which makes no sense for you.
