Is everything gated for new sellers?

Hi everyone,

I opened my Amazon Seller account almost two months ago and decided to start with Amazon FBA. Before opening the account, I watched a lot of videos about it, but many of them don’t mention that as a new seller, almost everything seems to be gated.

Since opening my account, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to find ungated products.

But no matter what I look for whether it’s a small brand, an unknown brand, or even simple products I keep getting the message that I need approval to sell.

I’ve already checked my account health, and it shows that my account is in good standing with no issues.

Has anyone else gone through this?

I’d really appreciate any advice or guidance on how to finally list my first product.

Amazon increasingly restricts brands, categories and even individual ASINs based on the seller’s history, so another seller being ungated for a product does not necessarily mean you will be. Account Health being perfect also does not automatically give you selling eligibility.

I would avoid buying inventory until you have checked the exact ASIN through your own Seller Central account and confirmed that you can sell it. Start by searching broadly across less restricted categories and checking products individually rather than looking specifically for a supposedly “ungated brand.” Some restrictions may also loosen as your account establishes legitimate selling history.

If you find a worthwhile product that requires approval, look at exactly what Amazon requests. Where they request invoices, purchase from the brand or a genuine wholesale distributor and make sure the invoice meets Amazon’s requirements. I would not buy quantities purely for ungating unless the approval application clearly tells you what documentation and quantity Amazon requires.

Also be careful with YouTube videos claiming that certain brands or categories are universally ungated. Selling eligibility is increasingly account-specific, and advice that worked for an established account may be completely different for someone opening an account today.
