Is being ungated in an overall category a thing?

I keep seeing people ask about being ugated in certain categories.

I am wondering if you would have to ungate for each brand/company within that category?

Some ASINs require a separate approval. This is the case with some brands as well.

Otherwise, 90% of ASINs and brands you are free to list.
