Inventory reconciliations

A lot of my products on Amazon have been valued much lower than my buy price for reconciliations. How is everyone dealing with this?

If Amazon underestimates our costs, we could lose a lot of money from lost and damaged stock.

So far, I’m not doing anything, as for many listings I’m actually getting paid more. Adding your desired price seems to be quite challenging, some get approved, some don’t, and I don’t have time to go back and forth with Amazon at the moment. Have you tried adding your COGS?

So they are underpricing my products. I’ve tried to add them, but they keep declining. I might have to open a case tomorrow.

I’m sure they introduced a new thing a few months back that they will estimate the valuation on the manufacturing cost of the products.

To protect yourself, the best approach is to keep detailed records of all your purchase invoices, receipts, and product cost breakdowns so you can submit a claim with documentation if the reimbursement is unfair. Many sellers also proactively upload their cost prices using the “Manage Your Inventory” > “Add Product Cost” option to help Amazon reference more accurate values during reimbursements, although it’s not always guaranteed they’ll use it. If you’re frequently seeing low valuations, it’s worth appealing each one and providing evidence, many sellers have had reimbursements adjusted when they pushed back with the right proof.

They changed the rules recently. Now they only reimburse for the manufacturing price and not even the wholesale sourcing price.
