I wanted to get some input from sellers who may have gone through something similar.
About 90+ days ago, I received my first ever IP complaint (counterfeit) for a Posca Markers product from the brand owner. I didn’t submit an appeal since I don’t have documentation for that item. Amazon has now sent me a final notice that they’ve disposed of the inventory (2 units).
Here’s my current situation:
This is my first IP complaint.
AHR = 800 (still in green).
Only 1 IP complaint on the account.
No other violations.
Account is still active and running normally.
It’s been over 90 days since the complaint was filed.
My questions:
In your experience, what are the chances Amazon may still suspend my account at this stage?
Is it common for accounts to stay active with one unresolved IP complaint until it ages out at 180 days?
Is there anything I should watch out for while waiting for this to clear?
Really appreciate any opinions or experiences you can share.
It was just a few units we originally bought for my daughter’s birthday party as return gifts, but we changed plans at the last minute. I shouldn’t have listed them on Amazon.
Ignoring the fact that you’re playing with fire by selling items without proper documentation, the truth is no one can tell you what will happen. At any time, you could receive a Section 3 performance notification about that specific ASIN, and since you don’t have proper documentation, you might risk losing everything.
Thanks for your feedback I completely understand your point about the risks of selling branded products without proper documentation lesson learned the hard way.
With a single IP complaint like this it’s pretty common for Amazon to just leave your account active as long as your overall metrics are solid, so the fact you’re still running normally after 90 days is a good sign.
Most sellers I’ve seen in this position stay active until the complaint drops off at the 180-day mark, though there’s always a small risk if you get another complaint or if your AHR slips closer to the yellow zone.
The key thing is to avoid selling anything that could trigger another IP issue, because it’s usually multiple complaints that lead to suspensions rather than a single isolated one.
While you’re waiting for it to age out, keep an eye on Account Health regularly and be proactive with sourcing so you don’t get caught with undocumented branded items again.
