Inbound FBA Shipping costs

Can anyone here address the ridiculous inbound FBA shipping fees I’m seeing other sellers, particularly the two shills that make videos for Seller Amp, stating they pay fees of .30 or .60 per pound, when I’m paying $4.60/Pound on my very first Inbound FBA Shipment?

This can happen when you have incorrect product dimensions entered in Seller Central.

Please check the dimensions entered. Their products could have different entries and the video may not reflect what is in Amazon’s system.

There’s nothing wrong with my shipping template.

Yes, that $4.60/pound rate you’re seeing for your first inbound FBA shipment is not unusual for new accounts or for shipments that are small, non-standard sized, or not optimized through Amazon’s partnered carrier network.

The low rates you’re hearing about, like $0.30 to $0.60/pound, typically apply to larger, palletized shipments using Amazon’s Partnered Carrier Program (PCP) via UPS or LTL freight, and are most cost-effective when sending multiple boxes that are standard-sized and within Amazon’s preferred dimensions and weight classes.

If you’re only sending one or two boxes under 15–20 pounds, the base rate can appear dramatically higher per pound. It’s also possible those sellers are averaging their shipping cost across many items per box, lowering their per-unit or per-pound cost in bulk.

To reduce your inbound fees, make sure your boxes are under 50 lbs, consolidate as much as possible, and explore using PCP through the FBA workflow, which offers steep discounts compared to non-partnered rates. Once your account gains shipping history and you send larger volumes, the rate tends to normalize.
