I'm about to start and am applying on Seller Central now

I’m a bit unclear about Universal Product Codes:

  1. Do I need to buy them?
  2. Does Amazon provide them?
  3. I know there are stickers for my products—are these the barcodes?

Today, I’m getting these apps:

  • SellerAmp
  • Keepa
  • Boxem

I’m also purchasing:

  • A Rollo printer with thermal technology
  • Large labels for FBA boxes
  • Small labels for Universal Product Codes

I have my bank account set up and a list of stores I’ll source from. Any advice?

You’re off to a great start, and it looks like you’ve got most of the essentials covered. For Universal Product Codes, you generally don’t need to buy them unless you’re selling private label products, as most products you resell will already have UPCs assigned by the manufacturer. Amazon doesn’t supply UPCs, but if you need them, buy directly from GS1 to avoid issues. The stickers you put on your products are usually FNSKU labels, which Amazon generates for each product in your inventory, not the UPC itself. Your app choices are solid—SellerAmp for quick sourcing analysis, Keepa for price history and trends, and Boxem for tracking shipments. The Rollo printer with thermal labels is a great investment for efficiency, and getting both large and small labels ensures smooth FBA shipments. Since you already have your bank account and sourcing plan, just make sure to follow Amazon’s ungating requirements for restricted brands and categories. Lastly, start slow, test your sourcing strategy, and stay on top of fees to maintain profitability.

You don’t need a UPC. First, decide which model you want to work on. It will also help to consider outsourcing tasks like finding the best product to sell.

I can do that. Thank you.
