Hello,
We already have the required documentation, including COA, GMP certificates, and compliance documents from the manufacturer. In this case, do we still need to send physical product samples for lab testing, or are the documents sufficient for approval? As I am based in Canada and selling on amazon usa.
Any lead would be appreciated
Thank you
Hello,
the correct process for listing supplements on Amazon US is much stricter than normal products because supplements fall under both Amazon compliance policies and FDA-related requirements. First, your product should be manufactured in a facility following cGMP standards, and Amazon increasingly expects third-party verification and compliance documentation for dietary supplements.
You will usually need clear product images showing the Supplement Facts panel, ingredient list, warnings, and packaging details, and Amazon may request documents such as a Certificate of Analysis (COA), lab testing, GMP certificates, and manufacturer information.
When creating the listing, make sure the claims on the packaging and listing are compliant. Supplements cannot claim to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent diseases, because that can trigger FDA and Amazon policy violations. Amazon is particularly strict with categories such as weight loss, sexual enhancement, sports nutrition, and bodybuilding supplement.
A lot of new sellers also underestimate the importance of documentation quality. Amazon often rejects supplements because the COA, invoice, or manufacturer details do not exactly match the listing or brand information. The safest approach is to work with an experienced manufacturer that already supplies Amazon sellers and can provide complete compliance documents from the start.
Finally, expect ongoing compliance checks even after the listing becomes active. Amazon may later request updated testing, GMP verification, or additional safety documentation, especially for ingestible products, so keeping all supplier and lab records organized is extremely important long term.
