I want to launch my first Private Label product

Based on my understanding, I need to send a photo of my packaging with my logo for brand approval.

For my listing and actual product, I do NOT need to have the same packaging with logo. Is this correct?

My actual product can just be plain brown box?

The packaging of your actual product is best to have a logo, in case of audit or complaints, if you stick to the plain brown box, it may be fine in the short term, but it may bring compliance risks in the long term, if you really don’t want to customize the packaging, you can stick a label with the logo on the product, which is very useful!

From my own experience selling on Amazon, it sounds like you’re headed in the right direction. Just to confirm, you’re spot on - Amazon requires packaging with your logo for brand approval. But here’s the thing: your actual shipping packaging doesn’t necessarily need to match what you submitted for approval. So, technically, you could ship your products in plain brown boxes, as long as everything else complies with Amazon’s rules. Have you thought about other details like packaging inserts, product labels, and barcodes? Double-checking those might save you some headaches down the line. What kind of awesome product are you launching, if you don’t mind me asking?

You actually don’t even need you actual product. Your logo does need to be permanently affixed to anything. Not a sticker, not an iron on but you could get a T-shirt or mug made. Just very permanent.

For Amazon Brand Registry and brand approval, you do need to submit a photo showing your logo on either the product itself or on its packaging, but once the brand is approved, Amazon does not enforce that every unit sold must have the same branded packaging—so yes, your actual product can technically be in a plain brown box afterward. However, keep in mind that having consistent branded packaging adds perceived value, helps with customer trust, and reduces the risk of complaints or confusion, especially if you later want to enroll in programs like Transparency or deal with hijackers. So while it’s not a strict requirement for each unit, it’s still recommended for long-term success.
