The accountant I was advised counts each individual line in the Amazon settlement report as a “document/transaction.” For example, one Amazon order can generate several lines: sale, referral fee, FBA fee, refund, etc.
How many Amazon settlement lines do you typically have compared with your number of orders, and roughly how much do you pay per month for accounting?
I’m especially interested in understanding what is considered one accounting line/document and how this usually affects the monthly accounting fee.
I’d really appreciate examples from your own experience. Thanks!!
Amazon settlements can have multiple lines per order (sale, referral fee, etc.), so counting every line can greatly increase the transaction count. Many accountants instead charge per settlement period or use a fixed monthly fee. Ask whether they count every individual line or consolidate each settlement before comparing prices.
Counting every line in a settelment report is a total rip-off. A single order has tons of lines for FBA fees, storage and ads, so charging per line will cost you a fortune for no reason.
Most real Amazon accountants dont do it manually. They use tools like A2X that compress the whole 14-day settlement into just one or two summary lines in QuickBooks.
It really comes down to your sales volume. Unless you are doing huge numbers paying an accountant per line is crazy. A decent VA using standard integration software can handle this easily.
Whats your current monthly sales volume? That’ll give a much better idea of what you should actually be paying.
