Hi,
Can someone give me advice on the requirements?
Will I need a CoC certificate, and is there anything else I may need?
TIA

For reusable kids’ mattress protectors in the U.S., treat them as mattress pads and plan to comply with the federal cigarette-smolder flammability standard in 16 CFR Part 1632, which means prototype testing and required labeling if any chemical flame treatment is used.
If you market to children under 12, it’s a children’s product, so you’ll need third-party testing at a CPSC-accepted lab, a Children’s Product Certificate, CPSIA tracking labels, and lead content testing; if the protector is intended to facilitate sleep for children age three and under and contains any plasticized components, test for the phthalates limits applicable to child care articles.
Most states require “law labels” for bedding and filled products and registration to obtain a Uniform Registry Number, so budget time and fees for those state registrations. Add FTC textile labeling (fiber content, country of origin, and business identity) and make sure any “waterproof,” “antimicrobial,” or similar claims are substantiated, avoiding pesticidal claims that could trigger EPA rules.
Include suffocation warnings on polybags and confirm packaging and care instructions are accurate. Practical sequence: finalize age grading, run 16 CFR 1632 and CPSIA testing, register for law labels and get a URN, prepare the CPC and tracking labels, apply textile labels on the product and packaging, and maintain a compliance file tying every SKU to its test reports and certificates.
Just create a listing and open multiple cases with Amazon support to confirm the documentation required. Pretty easy!
When you say “branch” into the US marketplace, are you already selling these items elsewhere?
Hi @fiona22,
anything for kids requires certification on Amazon. So, unless you are planning to obtain everything needed, I don’t think it would be a good idea to invest your money into this field.
Yes, you’ll need a CPC for kids’ mattress protectors, with lab testing for flammability, lead, and phthalates. Add tracking, care, and origin labels, and upload the CPC to Amazon for listing approval.
