Hi everyone
I have an LLC formed there and currently use a virtual office address and a registered address with a suite number where we can receive actual mail.
I noticed Wyoming says you can’t use a virtual office or registered agent address as the business operating address. Since I run the business fully remotely while traveling, the virtual office is really the only stable address I have.
Has anyone dealt with this before or know whether using the virtual office address or registered address is acceptable in this situation? Any advice or tips would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you!
Hello, this is actually a very common situation for remote Amazon sellers and digital business owners, especially those using Wyoming LLCs while operating internationally or while traveling. The issue is that Wyoming generally distinguishes between the registered agent address and the principal business or operating address, and technically they expect the operating address to reflect where the business is actually managed rather than just a mail forwarding location.
In practice, many remote business owners still use virtual office addresses or commercial mail receiving addresses as their business address, particularly when they do not have a fixed US location. The key point is usually whether the address can reliably receive mail and whether it creates problems during banking, Amazon verification, or tax compliance checks. Some virtual office providers are accepted more easily than others, especially if they look like legitimate office suites rather than obvious mailbox services.
The bigger risk is usually not with Wyoming itself, but with platforms like Amazon or banks, because they may flag addresses associated with large numbers of businesses or known virtual office providers. This is why many sellers keep a registered agent for legal purposes but use a separate stable mailing or office address for operational use.
If you are fully remote, the safest practical approach is usually to maintain one consistent address everywhere possible across your LLC records, IRS records, bank account, and Amazon account, because mismatched addresses tend to create more issues than the use of a virtual office itself.
