AI is definitely covering more of the production work now, but I don’t think it replaces a good Amazon-focused designer. AI is excellent for generating lifestyle concepts, backgrounds, variations and speeding up repetitive editing, while tools such as Canva and Photoshop remain popular for final composition and refinement. Sellers are increasingly using a combination of AI and conventional editing rather than relying entirely on either one.
Where a designer still adds considerable value is deciding what each image should communicate: competitor analysis, visual hierarchy, branding, benefit selection, infographic structure and maintaining consistency across the entire listing and A+ Content. Amazon also has specific requirements for main images, so someone still needs to ensure the final output is accurate and compliant.
I actually think Amazon graphic designers who learn to use AI effectively will become stronger rather than obsolete. The valuable skill is shifting from simply producing graphics manually to directing the entire visual strategy and using AI to produce and test ideas much faster.
