I am being charged VAT for the items I am selling on Amazon even though I have not met the threshold

Is that right?

If you aren’t UK based, then Amazon is legally required to collect VAT on your behalf, since your company is considered to be a foreign entity.

Yes. you pay VAT on anything else.

Once you reach 85k you will need to collect 20% on behalf of hmrc. I’d be happy to just pay vat on fees

Declare vat exemption on the tax settings if not already done so and then email seller support. They should reimburse you.
