How long does it take for your listing to start indexing?

Hi, I am a new Amazon seller and my product has arrived at the warehouse. I have optimized my listing and keywords, but my product is not showing up in search results when I search for it using keywords. However, I can find my product if I search for it using the ASIN. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

When you first list your product, Amazon’s system needs some time to index it properly. You can verify the indexing status by searching for your product’s ASIN followed by the keyword you want to rank for. If your product appears, it means it is indexed. If not, it may still be in the process of indexing, and you should wait for some more time.

Be patient and don’t give up

Many sellers focus only on indexing, meaning whether Amazon shows their product for a keyword, but the bigger issue is often preference decay, where the product is still being shown but shoppers stop clicking on it. A useful way to spot this is by checking Search Query Performance. If impression share stays steady but click share drops too low, it can be a sign that Amazon is displaying the listing while buyers are choosing competitors instead. This often happens when the listing is targeting mixed-intent keywords, such as informational terms like “guide” or “learning,” which attract people who are researching rather than ready to buy. The result is usually weaker conversion and lower unit session percentage. In many cases, the best fix is to remove those informational keywords and focus more on commercial-intent terms so Amazon can better understand the ASIN as a purchase-ready product.
