And regarding inventory, don’t start by buying items from Alibaba. As a newbie, I would recommend you to begin with some goods purchased directly from US/EU manufacturers who provide you valid invoices, until you learn how the entire site works and establish a selling history.
New sellers are often subject to random account reviews and asked to submit invoices, this is the main reason why you should leave purchasing from China for later.
