How do I send FBA inventory to ROI (Republic of Ireland)?

When creating a shipment as usual in UK, it would not offer me UPS as a courier, in fact, no courier is being offered and I would have to source my own. I chose DPD as it was cheaper than UPS but when shipping directly to Amazon fulfillment centre in ROI, it was returned back to me as I Amazon can’t be listed as receiver (responsible for customs & import charges).

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

It sounds like you need an Ior -Importer of Record

Hi! Shipping FBA inventory to the Republic of Ireland can be tricky due to customs rules.

Amazon won’t act as the Importer of Record for shipments into ROl, so you or your courier must handle customs clearance. Many sellers use freight forwarders or customs brokers who can manage this process. Alternatively, you could consider Pan-EU FBA or EFN if it suits your business model.

To send FBA inventory to the Republic of Ireland, you must treat it as a cross-border shipment, as Amazon’s Irish fulfillment center is in a different customs jurisdiction from the UK. When Amazon does not offer a partnered carrier (like UPS) for shipments to Ireland, it means you’ll need to use a non-partnered carrier and act as the Importer of Record (IOR) yourself or through your freight provider. Amazon will not act as the IOR for inbound shipments in Ireland, which is why your DPD parcel was rejected. To resolve this, either:

  1. Use a freight forwarder or customs agent who can list you as the IOR and prepay all duties and VAT (Delivered Duty Paid – DDP); or
  2. Enable Pan-EU FBA and send your inventory to a UK Amazon FC first, letting Amazon redistribute it to Ireland internally; or
  3. Use Amazon Global Logistics or a 3PL familiar with EU FBA routing.

Always ensure your shipping provider understands the need for DDP terms and IOR responsibilities when shipping to any Amazon FC outside the UK.
