I’m completely new to this and need all the advice I can get. I’ve had a product idea for some time now, but have no idea where to start so I joined this forum hoping for some help.

I started 20 years ago so the way I started might not apply anymore.
I sell only books, mostly used. I started small, with only a few individual copies. Over the years I gradually built my inventory. Always FBM. Then five years ago I took a prolonged vacation after selling all my inventory but keeping my account. When I decide to start up again even though I had the count Amazon treated me as a newbie. Should be weird, do not take extended vacations.

What you appear to be talking about is private label - quite a big step to go straight to pl without at least having a fba experiment just to understand processes etc before you get to complexities of pl and ppc campaigns etc
You can go to youtube and watch some videos to decide whether to take a course or not and how to find a manufacturer
