How can I verify that my seller id is registered in the brand registry?

Hi everyone,

I’m entering into a contract with a private label brand. They currently have two sellers on the listings, who will be removed over time as they go out of stock, leaving me as the only seller.

How can I ensure that my Seller ID is registered in the Brand Registry?

The person I’m speaking to claims to be the owner of the brand. Is there any way to verify this information?

Is there anything else I should be aware of or might be overlooking?

Thanks!

You can ask them for their trademark registration certificate. You can also look up the trademark on the USPTO website to make sure it’s registered under their name or their company.

And most importantly, ask them to add you as an additional user in their Brand Registry account and assign you the role of “Registered Agent.”

Even if you end up as the only seller, it’s a good idea to have a written agreement in place. This should cover your exclusive rights to sell their products on Amazon, including any specific terms, like geographic or platform restrictions. It’s just smart to have this agreement, even if they’ve already added you to the Brand Registry.

That way, you’re covered on all fronts!

To ensure your seller ID is registered in the brand registry, request a copy of the brand registration certificate. This document will verify the brand owner’s identity and confirm your association with the brand. Additionally, you can research the brand online to see if there are any publicly available records or information about the owner. While it’s important to be cautious, if the person you’re speaking with provides the necessary documentation and information, it’s likely that they are indeed the brand owner.

Make sure to sign exclusive agreement, reverify the owner.
