Yes, you need to register for VAT to make it a claimable expense; otherwise, it will be your cost and will eat into your margins. VAT registration is necessary to improve cash flow, allowing you to benefit from the net VAT scheme.

In order to claim VAT back, you need to be VAT registered. Most sellers (myself included) work with accountants. If you need one, Harvinder Singh Dhillon and Tarkan Talip are two highly recommended accountants.
